insert random note: yes it has taken me nearly a month to complete this blog post. It is all over the place because it was written in little bits over the past few weeks. I lack attention span and time these days!
Guess WHAT! Parker turned one this past week! In addition to that he has also really started walking pretty much everywhere. He is still faster when he crawls and he doesn't just stand up in the middle of the room yet but he will toddle his way around the house for pretty much everything. With this new found joy of walking he has also started getting into everything! There are very few things that child has not managed to find a way to access. Thankfully he is not quite tall enough to reach door handles yet.
Parker's most recent obsessions include:
*Toilets (aka perfectly Parker sized puddles)
* cupboards (door are ideal slamming devices and perfect for emptying thus transforming into a Parker sized fort)
*toilet paper. (all rolls must be unrolled as quickly as possible before mom catches him)
* Any container that can be dumped.
* Bath tub, (no matter who is in the shower he truly believes he should also be involved)
* Balls, or any projectile object. Actually everything is a projectile object in his hands as long as he can pick it up you can assume he will throw it.
* Disassembling anything and everything. He is his father's son.
Our most recent Parker adventure was actually yesterday when he managed to un-cap a gallon of cooking oil and proceeded to create his own little pool. All.Over.The.Kitchen.Floor. I failed to take any pictures but let it be remembered that the best solution to such a mess is lots and lots of HOT water and a towel to soak up the water and oil mixture as you clean. During the cleaning process of mess #1 he also managed to un-cap a nearly new bottle of lotion and was proceeding to dump that when we caught him! We are doomed!!
So there is my happy little man! I am so proud to be his mommy and he has the two best big sisters in the whole world! So back a few weeks to get the full update in the shortened highlight reel form!
Ben is doing well. He still has a cough that is presumably a post viral cough (you know, the kind that likes to hang around for weeks or months after being sick). And he is still tapering off the steroids so he is more tired than he used to be but that will get better in a little while! The other big news is that we finally made it back to our first return visit to Ben's old Oncologist! YAYAY! This is a monumental thing for him because it means that he is doing well enough that the transplant doctors can trust his care to someone less specific! So for now we will be doing every other week between doctors! Ben is also trying to get back into work in the next few weeks he will begin going into work part time and seeing how it goes for him and he will gradually start working his way back into working full time as long as he doesn't get sick again! We did our taxes and decided to split the refund that we were not expecting to get and allow each other to spend some money on something other than medical expenses! Ben spent his on a new gun and safe for it! Now to just be able to find ammunition somewhere which is a near impossible task with the way that people are stockpiling weapons and ammo with the new laws that are passing. Politics are so dumb sometimes!
I am doing well. I keep up with the house and the kids as best as I can and am spending a little more time on myself trying to make sure not to overload myself and land myself in an insane asylum wait, isn't that where I already live? Haha! I have spent more time laughing and enjoying life the past few weeks and have loved every second of it! I am also making sure to take a little extra time each day to actually get ready. Putting on nice cloths, fixing my hair and making myself feel pretty seems to make a great difference in my mood, not to mention my hotness level ;-)
We had spring break for Eliza and spend most of the week just doing the same stuff we always do. The girls got to have a sleepover at Grandma Waite's house one night which was very exciting to them! And I got to take two mornings in a row shopping with my twin sisters Heather and Heidi! It was fun to shop with them especially without kiddos! Heidi got a whole new wardrobe of t-shirts and Heather ended up with a new skirt/shirt combo and a prom dress (that is frighteningly attractive on her!) Dang I really have good looking sisters. I also got myself a new dress and then spent another two weeks finding the right shrug to go with it... In the end I found the perfect shrug in the wrong color so I dyed it myself and now it is perfect!
We took the kids swimming one of the nice days (thankfully because then it got incredibly cold the next day) Parker is still not a huge fan of the pool. He cries every time we go but Ben got some good pictures of all the fun! Eliza and Alayna are little fishy's in the pool and both of them had a great time showing off their 'swimming' skills to mom and dad! Eventually Parker caved in and started having a little bit of fun so I think we just need to take him more often! Good thing we have a pass so we can go as often as we want! Thanks Grandma & Grandpa Merritt!
Easter was awesome! The kids had a fantastic time doing all the fun Easter traditions and we loved watching them with all the egg hunting (and more egg hunting, and More egg hunting) that happened for the next week or so!
